We have implemented full administrator image controls and dynamic responsive layouts for both the Blog Hero Banner and Article Featured Images

1. Blog Hero Banner Controls (/settings)

  • Enable / Disable Toggle: Under Settings → Blog Hero Banner, you can toggle the Hero Image ON or OFF.
  • Upload Custom Image: Upload your own branded hero image (JPEG, PNG, WebP up to 5MB).
  • Remove Custom Image: Preview the active banner and tick Remove custom image to revert to the default hero artwork.
  • Zero Blank Space Layout: When the Hero Image is turned OFF or removed, /blog dynamically switches to a clean, centered full-width banner layout with the title, description, search bar, and popular topic pills centered—completely eliminating awkward blank space.

2. Article Featured Image Controls (/articles/create & /articles/{id}/edit)

  • Upload Featured Thumbnail: When creating or editing articles, upload an optional featured thumbnail (image/*, up to 5MB).
  • Remove Image Anytime: On /articles/{id}/edit, view the existing thumbnail and check Remove this image from the article to delete the file and revert to text-only mode.
  • Adaptive Public Layout:
    • If an article has an image: /blog cards and /blog/{slug} display the thumbnail banner.
    • If an article has no image: the layout cleanly omits the image box without empty space or broken image icons.
    •

3. Verification & Build

  • Automated Feature Tests: All 21 tests in tests/Feature/BlogAndArticlesTest.php passed (95 assertions).
  • Assets: Compiled with npm run build.
  • Documentation: Updated docs/user-guide/08-admin-guide.md and docs/USER_GUIDE.md revision history. Detailed walkthrough is saved in walkthrough.md.
